2
– THE CIVIL WAR
CONFERENCE – features three nationally known Civil
War authors and scholars and is scheduled for Thursday,
April 26th – April 28th, 2012. These speakers are: James
M. McPherson, Ed Bearss and Craig L.
Symonds.
Attendance is open to
the general public by registration only and is limited
to 175 attendees on a 'first come -first serve' basis. The registration fee is $175 which includes 3
dinners, 3 nationally known speakers, refreshments,
additional speakers and power point presentations, Civil
War exhibits, collections, ‘Living History’ programs,
Civil War music and ‘Monument Dedication’. Since
registration is limited we encourage you to register for
the Conference and make motel or cottage reservations
ASAP.

Phase 3 – The LIVING
HISTORY PROGRAMS are scheduled to be held at the
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse grounds from Saturday,
August 27th from 9:00 AM / 6:00 PM – Sunday,
August 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These
programs will feature re-enactors of the regiments
involved in the action at Hatteras Inlet in August of
1861.
These re-enactors will present artillery
demonstrations, encampments, drills and period music. In
addition, a civil war era’ Ladies Fashion’ show will be
presented as well as an actual Civil war era forge.
These programs are free of charge and are open to the
public. A schedule of programs will be provided. Make
your motel and cottage reservations ASAP to assure your
attendance at these programs.

Ole' Time
Civil War Auction
The “Ole' Time Civil War Auction" is scheduled for
August 27th from 5:00 - 6:30 P.M. at the Hatteras
Village Civic Center in Hatteras.
All proceeds will go to the
Friends of the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum to
defray costs of Flags Over Hatteras activities and
for a designated donation towards a Civil War
restoration project/projects and 'Friends Of The
Graveyard Of The Atlantic Museum.
Come early to get your bid number and a front row
seat. The items will have a starting bid and will be
sold as fast as lighting strikes. Jason Humphries of
Humphries Auctioneering from Kill Devil Hills, NC.
will visit us from the 19th century to call out the
bids. Jason's claim to fame is,"Its the sound that
sells!" To that end, he has already started to
gargle bales of cool sea water to get ready for this
special event.
Donations of any and all auction items are
welcome. They do not need to have anything to do
with the Civil War. Items already on the auction
block for lucky bidders to win range from books
and prints to a half-day charter boat fishing
trip.
